Bets and settling
Which bet types does Settler work out?
All 44 of them: singles, doubles, trebles and accumulators up to 20 folds; full covers from a Trixie to a Goliath; full covers with singles, from a Patent to a Goliath with Singles; every stakes-about bet, from Single Stakes About to a 303-bet Goliath Flag; and the Alphabet and Union Jacks.
How does each-way work in Settler?
Turn on E/W and the stake covers two bets: one to win and one to place. Set the place terms on each selection, from 1/1 to 1/6 of the odds. The win part settles at full odds and the place part at the place terms, so a £5.00 E/W bet costs £10.00.
How are Rule 4 deductions handled?
Enter the deduction in pence in the pound on the selection, and Settler takes it off that selection's winnings, not the stake. A £10.00 win single at 2/1 with a 20p deduction returns £10.00 + (£20.00 × 0.80) = £26.00, not £30.00.
How are dead heats settled?
Set Runners tied and Positions available on the selection. The stake is divided by the number of runners tied and multiplied by the positions they share, then paid at full odds. A £10.00 win single at 4/1 in a two-way dead heat for first settles as £5.00 at 4/1 and returns £25.00.
What do W, P, L and V mean?
Won, placed, lost and void. A placed selection pays only the place part of an each-way bet. A void (non-runner) leg counts as a winner at odds of 1.00, so a multiple carries on with the remaining selections.
Using the app
How do I change the odds format?
Go to Settings, then Odds format, and choose fractional, decimal or American. It applies everywhere in the app, including bets you've saved.
Can I set a default stake or odds?
Yes. In Settings, under Defaults, you can set a default stake, default odds and default each-way terms. They're used for new bets only and never change a bet you've saved.
How do I add the widgets?
Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Settler. There are two: Last Bet shows the last bet you saved, and Quick Launch opens a calculator in one tap.
Where are my saved bets kept?
On your iPhone, and nowhere else. Settler has no account and never sends your bets to a server. Deleting the app deletes them.
